Minister of Finance of the Slovak Republic Michal Horváth today signed the Agreement between the Slovak Republic and New Zealand for the avoidance of double taxation and the prevention of fiscal evasion with respect to taxes on income. The Agreement was signed on behalf of New Zealand by the Chargé d'Affaires and Ambassador Dell Higgie.
This is a significant step for both countries and the result of several months of preparatory work and mutual negotiations. The signing of the Agreement opens a new space for developing economic relations between Slovakia and New Zealand.
The Agreement also broadens the base of bilateral agreements and respects current international requirements for minimum standards in the fight against tax evasion and profit shifting, as well as strengthening transparency in this area.
