Organisational changes on the eastern border
Last update: 18.07.2023 06:00
The Ministry of Finance of the Slovak Republic plans to merge the Customs Office Michalovce with the Customs Office Košice. The Slovak Ministry of Finance stresses that in no case will there be a reduction in the number of financial administration officers or a deterioration of services for the public - just the opposite, it is a pro-client step. At the same time, the branch of the customs office will remain in Michalovce.
The intention of the Ministry of Finance of the Slovak Republic and the Financial Administration is to create a strong customs office with territorial competence for the entire customs border with sufficient technical and staff capacity. This step will make it possible to strengthen the performance of the service at border offices or in border regions and thus also the control activity itself. This can significantly help reduce the risk of corruption and clientelism on the eastern border. The Slovak Ministry of Finance intends to make the organisational changes later this year.
